wind energy developer
Crownbutte Wind Power was established in 1999 with the goal of building, owning and operating a string of utility scale wind parks across the Northern Plains States – the windiest in the nation.
Crownbutte developed, built and operated the first wind power generation facility in the Dakotas at Chamberlain, South Dakota. Crownbutte later built the 20 Megawatt (MW) Diamond Willow wind park located near Baker, Montana. In 2009, Crownbutte became a public company trading under the symbol CBWP.
Today, Crownbutte has a pipeline of 300 MW of new wind power projects in development across North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. In 2011, Nacel Energy, a developer of wind power in Texas, acquired 30% of Crownbutte.
